“In order to create his photographs, William Connally writes short stories and makes drawings detailing and describing the characters who’ve just recently vacated the scene. He draws inspiration for his original work from literary sources including Franz Kafka, Edith Wharton, and J.D. Salinger, as well as film noir, and amateur theater productions. Connally received his MFA in Photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He has a BFA in Photography and Film from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia.”

William’s creative process is unique and very interesting. I love that he writes stories about the characters in his photos and then sets up scenes as if the character had just been there. Cool stuff.
